A steel beam frames into a vertical steel column utilizing a bolted connection plate welded with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld typical. A steel cap plate sits atop the steel column with a stiffener plate positioned inside the column web aligned with the beam flange. Rolled steel decking bears adjacent to the column cap plate. A flashing or edge angle is secured at the top of the column with field welds.
