A supported steel beam is notched at its end to frame into a supporting steel beam, with the bottom flange of the supported beam resting on a seat. The supported beam web passes through a slotted plate matching the beam flange thickness and width. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are provided on both sides and centered at the web of the supported beam. Seven-eighths-inch diameter A325N bolts secure the connection on beam gauges, with one near-side and one far-side bolt. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch size are applied on three sides typically.
