Cold-formed metal ceiling joists are tied together using a continuous 1-1/2-inch by 33-mil strap or 54-mil cold-rolled channel running perpendicular across the top flanges. Track blocking to match the joists is installed and placed at 96 inches on center as well as at each end of the strap runs. Fastening consists of two number eight screws at each flange, one number eight screw at each stud, and four number eight screws per block. A finish surface is attached to the underside of the framed ceiling joists.
