A steel column bears on a steel base plate set upon one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout above a concrete footing. Anchor bolts embedded in the concrete footing secure the base plate and column assembly. A concrete slab on grade surrounds the column with control joints located at the perimeter. A concrete pour-back fills the space between the slab on grade and the column. A three-inch minimum concrete cover protects the reinforcing steel within the footing.
