This assembly features a steel column base plate set atop a concrete foundation, with a central shear lug extending into the concrete for lateral load resistance. The base plate is supported by a two-inch layer of non-shrink grout. Hooked reinforcing bars are positioned at the shear lug as indicated in the typical detail. The foundation mat reinforcement is sized per the foundation plan, and the top of concrete elevation is referenced to the plan. The slab-on-grade is omitted from this view for clarity.
