An elevator guide rail support column constructed from a hollow structural section connects to a hollow structural section elevator divider beam. The connection utilizes L6x4x5/16 by 0'-5" angles placed on each side, secured with a three-quarter-inch through bolt in a two-inch vertical slotted hole with a double nut. A one-inch clearance is maintained at the joint. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch and three-sixteenth-inch sizes secure the structural components.
