A concrete slab-on-grade transitions into a one-foot-thick thickened concrete footing that extends twelve inches beyond each stair stringer. Two number five continuous reinforcing bars run longitudinally within the footing, supplemented by number five bars spaced at twelve inches on center. A felt bond breaker and insulation are positioned beneath the concrete slab. The stair stringer attachment to the slab is provided by the stair supplier and engineered to accommodate inelastic seismic story drift.
