Cold-formed steel vertical blocking is framed between vertical wall studs to support hung equipment. The backing member, specified as a 600S162-54 minimum cold-formed steel track or stud, has its flanges cut to form the blocking profile and is fastened to each adjacent wall stud with six number 10 screws on each side. The assembly is spliced at wall studs as required, with three number 10 screws securing each end to the respective wall stud.
