A structural steel column connects to a base plate welded with a complete joint penetration double-bevel weld. The base plate rests above the top of the foundation with grout and is secured by anchor bolts extending thirty inches down to an embedded plate sized to match the base plate. The anchor assembly passes below the top of the slab.
