This structural steel connection details a column splice with the frame column flanges beveled as shown and joined using complete joint penetration welds with direct chord welding. A plate on the bevel side of the web is removed, and the web connection uses complete joint penetration welds with direct chord welding, specified to be welded only after the column is braced and plumb. Lift plates are provided by others on both sides of the connection. The detail references sheet S403 and indicates a variable height above the top of the floor.
