An HSS beam connects to an edge beam using a one-half-inch end plate that matches the profile of the hollow structural section. A full-height shear tab is located at each connection, backed by a three-sixteenth-inch full-height stiffener plate on the opposite side of the web. The connection is detailed with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The number and size of bolts, plates, and welds conform to detail one on sheet S-211.
