A reinforced concrete pedestal section contains a one-foot-eight-inch by seven-foot-four-inch embedded plate assembly, anchored by sixteen number six ASTM A706 reinforcing bars. The assembly includes a bearing plate for an expansion shoe, with one and thirteen-sixteenths inch diameter holes provided for the upper element. Number seven ASTM A706 stirrups are placed on top of the set without hooks. A complete joint penetration weld, subject to non-destructive testing, is specified for the connection. The assembly is symmetrical about the centerline of the THERM-HX-4121 and 4221 units.
