A concrete drag beam connects to a reinforced concrete shear wall with continuous longitudinal reinforcing extending fourteen feet into the shear wall and running the full length of the wall. Transverse confinement is provided by number five ties spaced at four inches on center throughout the member. Additional parallel reinforcing bars pass through the junction zone to transfer lateral forces.
