An elevator guiderail support connection features a 1/2-inch bent plate on each side fastened with 3/4-inch diameter ASTM A325 snug-tight bolts. A standard bolt hole is provided at the upper bolt location and a long slot is provided at the lower bolt location. A tube splice is detailed with a 1/4-inch weld and a typical 4-inch spacing. The brace connection is aligned with the centerline of the hollow structural section with a length ranging from a 2-foot minimum to a 5-foot maximum.
