Rectangular or round openings up to six feet maximum dimension in slabs on grade require diagonal reinforcing bars placed at forty-five degrees across each corner. Two number four bars are centered within the slab thickness extending two feet beyond the opening corners typically. Openings less than two feet eliminate the diagonal bars and keyed joints. A keyed joint with centered reinforcement is detailed adjacent to the opening per structural notes.
