A built-up concrete slab is cast over a layer of polystyrene insulation, which bears directly on the supporting structural slab. Reinforcement for the slab is installed in accordance with the built-up slab on polystyrene schedule. The edge of the built-up slab is located two feet from the face of the adjacent concrete structure. Vertical and horizontal reinforcing bars tie the concrete assembly together at the edge.
