A hollow structural section post connects to the structural floor via a half-inch by nine-inch by nine-inch embed plate welded with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. The embed plate is anchored into the concrete slab on metal deck using four three-quarter inch by two-and-a-quarter inch headed studs. At embeds near the edge of the slab, the embed length reduces to seven-and-a-half inches per base building requirements. The entire assembly bears on a structural steel beam sized per plan.
