A post-to-spreader beam connection utilizes welded steel plates and through-bolts. The assembly consists of an HSS post framing into a structural spreader beam per plan, tied together with three-eighths-inch thick steel plates measuring three-eighths by six by zero-feet-six inches and three-eighths by six by zero-feet-eight inches. Connections are secured using two three-quarter-inch diameter through-bolts with two-and-a-half-inch vertical slotted holes provided for adjustability. Fillet welds sized at one-quarter inch are specified for the plate-to-member joints as typical.
