A structural steel channel connects to the flange of a wide-flange column using bolted clip angles and welded reinforcement plates. The channel web frames into the column face, secured by shop or field welds labeled R1 Main, R2 Main, and R3 Main. Clip angles with bolts tie the framing members together to transfer shear loads directly to the column support.
