A structural steel core of thickness tsc is welded inside a casing using a longitudinal weld of size DwL, with a casing cap fitted at each end. A lug plate connects to the steel core assembly and extends outward to a multi-bolt gusset plate connection. The gusset plate features a symmetrical bolt pattern with edge distances e, row spacing s, and gauge lines gi and go, fastened using bolts of diameter dhg at the gusset and ds at the lug plate. Fillet welds of size DwLg secure the transition between the lug plate and gusset plate elements.
