An HSS beam connects to an HSS column using L4x3x3/8 angles positioned at the top and bottom of the beam flange and sized to match the beam width. A maximum one-half-inch gap is maintained between the end of the beam and the face of the column. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the angles to both the beam and the column face, complemented by field welds indicated with field weld symbols.
