A hollow structural section beam frames into a hollow structural section column with a maximum one-half inch gap maintained between the beam end and the column face. The connection utilizes four-bolt double angles shop-welded or field-welded to the column and field-bolted to the beam web. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size secure the connection angles and top and bottom plates to the structural members.
