A wide flange beam sized per plan supports sub-purlins and roof sheathing per plan and nailing schedule. A stiffener plate is welded to the top flange of the wide flange beam with a quarter-inch fillet weld. A sprinkler pipe passes through the web of the beam, maintaining a centerline aligned with the hole centerline and located with a minimum two-inch clearance. Hole sizing for the sprinkler pipe is coordinated per sprinkler drawings with a five-inch maximum.
