A shear plate connects the steel beam web to the wide flange column web and stiffener plates. The shear plate welds to the column web and stiffener plates, while the beam web bolts to the shear plate. Stiffener plates on each side of the column web match the plate thickness and feature clipped corners. A maximum one-half inch gap is required between the beam end and the column face. Project connection schedules define weld sizes, bolt counts, and shear plate thickness. This shear plate configuration matches the plate specified in detail 3/B111.S7.201.
