The dock leveler pit is formed with a minimum 8-inch thick reinforced concrete slab and walls. The top edges of the pit walls are protected by a continuous L3x3x1/4-inch steel angle, anchored into the concrete with 1/2-inch diameter by 5-inch long welded studs spaced at 24 inches on center. The pit floor and walls are reinforced with number 4 reinforcing bars spaced at 12 inches on center each way. The pit walls maintain a minimum thickness of 8 inches.
