A concrete slab over metal deck steps down across a structural steel beam with a continuous L4x3x1/4 angle welded along the edge. The metal deck maintains a one and seven-eighths inch minimum bearing length typically on the supporting steel beam. A continuous angle is welded to the beam web with three-sixteenths inch welds spaced at twelve inches on center. Reinforcing dowels match the slab reinforcement and provide a lap splice across the step transition. The vertical drop has a three-quarter inch chamfer at the outside corner and a five inch minimum dimension.
