An HSS beam connects to the web of a wide flange column using a three-quarter-inch thick plate welded to the column face. Three-eighths-inch plates are welded to each side of the HSS beam and secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter A325 thru-bolts. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth-inch size connect the beam side plates, and quarter-inch welds secure the main column plate. The centerline of the beam aligns with the column web reference plan.
