Structural steel framing conditions occur where steel beams frame into a steel column with vertically offset continuity plates at the column flange and web. The 50 KSI continuity plates are sized to the greater beam flange thickness plus one-eighth inch. Where the offset exceeds the one-to-three minimum slope, horizontal continuity plates are provided to align with both beam flanges. The sloped continuity plates are secured with complete joint penetration welds on three sides typically.
