A concrete slab on metal deck bears on a structural steel edge beam sized per plan and is bounded by a continuous 12-gauge metal edge form. Two continuous #4 reinforcing bars run along the slab edge, supplemented by #3 reinforcing bars spaced at 12 inches on center. A continuous angle measuring L5x5x3/8 is positioned at 10 feet on center maximum and aligned with the beam on the opposite side, maintaining a 2-inch minimum clearance and a 1/2-inch typical dimension. A 3/8-inch plate connects via a 1/4-inch fillet weld on two sides. An intersecting infill beam connects to the edge beam web using a bolted shear tab connection.
