A concrete slab on steel deck bears directly upon the top flange of a built-up wide flange beam. Continuous structural steel angles measuring 4x3x1/4 inches with long legs vertical are positioned on each side of the top flange. Shear studs are spaced along the top flange per structural plans. A clearance gap of three-quarters of an inch is maintained between the deck underside and the beam flange.
