A handrail post is welded to a half-inch thick embed plate anchored into a concrete slab over metal deck. The embed plate measures 1/2 inch by 6 inches by 1 foot 3 inches and is secured with two 1/2-inch diameter by 2 1/2-inch welded headed studs. A 3/16-inch fillet weld connects the handrail post to the embed plate. The handrail post is spaced at a maximum of 8 feet 0 inches on center as specified per architectural plans. Concrete thickness and reinforcement are sized per structural and architectural plans.
