Steel grating rests on a flange plate of thickness T and width W, welded to the top flange of a wide-flange beam. The grating is notched to accommodate the support plate, maintaining a minimum bearing of 1 1/2 inches. A 12-gauge cover plate is field-welded to the grating where present, with bolts installed on a common gauge. The flange plate is welded to the beam flange on both the near side and far side as required. A full-depth double-angle shear connection supports the beam, as noted but not shown in this view.
