A three-quarter-inch diameter smooth dowel extends two inches into a concrete slab through a one-inch diameter cast-in concrete sleeve insert with a three-quarter-inch minimum clearance filled with flexible sealant. The dowel embeds ten inches minimum into the concrete masonry unit bond beam and spaces at four feet zero inches on center maximum. The cell around the bar is filled with mortar when setting the block, and face shells are broken out and replaced as required for grout placement.
