A hollow structural section post measuring HSS4x4x5/16 mounts to a three-quarter-inch thick base plate at the steel framing level. Additional HSS4x4x5/16 horizontal rails span between vertical posts at the top and mid-height positions, secured with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. A one-half-inch stiffener plate sits under the posts, paired with a full-depth shear tab or stiffener of three-eighth-inch minimum thickness welded to the supporting steel beam. A cover plate is located above the assembly, and blockouts are provided for welding access as required by the connection geometry.
