A reinforced concrete column bears on a spread footing, reinforced with dowels matching the column reinforcement and terminating with standard hooks. A roughened construction joint is prepared at the top of the footing. A concrete slab intersects the column, separated by a minimum thirty-pound building paper wrap all around the column. A lap splice per general notes is provided for the vertical reinforcement above the slab. Maximum tie spacing is specified at one-half the standard spacing near the connection.
