A hollow structural section stub cantilever is welded to a structural steel column sized per plan. A three-eighths-inch cap plate is welded to the end of the hollow structural section stub with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld on three sides. Additional fillet welds of one-quarter-inch and three-sixteenths-inch sizes secure the assembly as detailed.
