The wind girt connects to the steel column using two L3x3x1/4 inch angle clips, sized to the column width minus one inch. The girt maintains a one-half inch maximum gap from the column face. Each angle clip secures to the column and the girt web with one-quarter inch fillet welds, applied typically at all contact points. Wind girt attachment locations vary along the height of the steel column as indicated on the architectural elevations.
