The edge of the concrete slab on grade thickens into a continuous footing with a minimum one-foot width bearing on prepared subgrade. A continuous number five reinforcing bar runs horizontally within the thickened edge, alongside distributed steel within the main slab. The exterior edge aligns with the finish grade at a specified depth below the top of slab.
