A framing beam connects to a supporting column using a one-quarter-inch bent plate U-bucket and a one-quarter-inch end plate. The U-bucket is attached to the beam with three self-drilling screws per side, totaling six screws per beam, specified for invert locations on framing supports at beams less than five inches wide. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld secures the U-bucket to the end plate, and a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connects the end plate to the column. The bucket width is dimensioned as the beam width plus one-sixteenth of an inch with a height of one foot two inches.
