A connection detail provides the transition between a larger truss chord flange and a smaller truss chord flange using a cover plate sized per the engineering list. The flange thickness transition incorporates a two-and-a-half to one slope to transfer loads between members of differing sizes. Complete joint penetration welds join the abutting chord elements and secure the cover plate transition.
