Wide-flange beams frame into a hollow structural section column utilizing a one-half-inch top column plate whose width equals the greater of the beam flange width or the HSS width plus three inches. Three-eighths-inch full-depth stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web with five-sixteenths fillet welds. The beam webs connect with four three-quarter-inch-diameter A325 bolts at standard gauge. The beams are detailed as cantilever or continuous members per plan.
