A structural steel W18 beam bottom flange is braced using a 3x3x1/4 angle connected with three-quarter-inch high-strength bolts. For the parallel to deck condition, the angle connects to a quarter-inch plate welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld. For the perpendicular to deck condition, the angle is anchored directly to the concrete-filled metal deck using two half-inch diameter Hilti KB-TZ expansion anchors with two-inch embedment.
