A new concrete slab on metal deck connects to an existing structure through an existing 4-inch slab and 10-inch double tee. Number 4 reinforcing dowels at 4 feet 0 inches in length are spaced at 16 inches on center with a 4-inch epoxy embedment into the existing structure. A continuous L3 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1/4 angle supports the edge condition. A wide-flange beam sized per plan supports the metal deck assembly, with headed stud anchors placed per plan. Intermittent fillet welds of 3/16-inch size at 2 inches on 12-inch centers secure the connection.
