An HSS beam frames into an HSS column utilizing L4x4x1/2 angles spanning the column width at the top and bottom. A maximum one-half inch clearance is maintained between the beam end and the column face. The angles are welded to the column with five-sixteenths welds on both sides typically, and to the beam top and bottom flanges with one-quarter inch welds on three sides.
