An HSS14 beam connects to a W18 wide flange beam using a bolted angle and plate assembly. A pair of L5x5x3/8 angles, measuring 0'-5" long, attach to the web of the W18 beam with four bolts. A 3/8-inch thick cap plate measuring 5 inches by 0'-5" sits atop the connection. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the connection components, accompanied by a partial joint penetration weld marked (1/4) on the assembly. A 3/8-inch cap plate seals the end of the HSS member.
