A hollow structural section stair stringer connects to a structural steel member at the stair landing with a mitered beam detail and a three-eighths-inch partial-joint-penetration weld. The landing construction incorporates a hollow structural section sized per plan beneath a wood finish specified by the architectural drawings. The overall thickness of the landing assembly is maintained at a maximum of seven inches relative to the top of landing elevation.
