Two sections of cold-formed steel ledger track align end-to-end with a maximum half-inch gap between them. A splice plate bridges the joint, secured on each side by number twelve screws arranged in two vertical rows with equal spacing. The splice plate thickness and screw count are detailed with a schedule specifying sixteen gauge material and eight screws per side typically, unless noted otherwise. Edge distances and vertical placement maintain a one-inch clearance from the ends and a height equal to the ledger depth minus one inch.
