A glued laminated timber beam connects to a hollow structural section post per plan, utilizing three-quarter-inch tight-fitting steel pins. The connection incorporates a five-eighth-inch thick plate and a one-quarter-inch thick plate welded to the post with typical quarter-inch fillet welds. A maximum one-half-inch gap is maintained between the timber beam end and the post face. The timber beam extends beyond with a three-inch vertical spacing for the pins, positioned one and a half inches from the beam edge.
