An existing roof joist is reinforced with new 2"x2"x1/4" steel angles provided on both sides and welded with a 3/16" fillet weld spaced at 2 inches. The reinforcement extends to the nearest panel point on the opposite chord from the location of the new point load. Clearances of six inches or greater are maintained at load application points.
