This assembly consists of a hollow structural section brace slotted onto a one-inch thick gusset plate, which is welded to the underside of a wide flange beam and the adjacent column flange with three-eighths inch fillet welds. The brace is secured to the gusset plate with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds. A three-quarter inch stiffener plate is centered on the workpoint at the beam-column junction on each side of the beam, attached with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds to the column. The beam centerline is established at the workpoint, with metal roof deck positioned above the beam.
